Kalifornia is a dark road film that follows a cynical journalist and his photographer partner as they embark on a cross-country trip to document serial killer murder sites. They pick up two hitchhikers to share expenses: a naive young man and a drifter with a sinister secret. What begins as a morbid research project descends into genuine horror when the travelers realize one of their companions is an active killer. The film captures the tension between exploitation and morality as the group hurtles toward California, each member harboring their own demons. Blending crime thriller elements with character study, Kalifornia examines how fascination with violence can blind us to danger sitting right beside us.
