The Rival(2006)

The Rival is a psychological thriller about Alice, a woman devastated after losing her baby in a violent tragedy. Unable to conceive naturally, Alice and her husband turn to surrogacy as their path to parenthood. When their surrogate becomes pregnant with the child they've longed for, Alice's joy transforms into obsessive jealousy and rage. As her grip on reality fractures, she becomes willing to commit increasingly dangerous acts to claim the baby as her own. The film explores the dark consequences of desperation and the lengths a grieving mother will go to reclaim what she's lost.
