To Err is a science fiction film set 237 years after humanity's extinction. An android, the sole survivor of its kind, grapples with an existential longing for a human past it can never truly know or experience. The film explores themes of isolation, memory, and what it means to yearn for something fundamentally out of reach. As the android navigates a world devoid of its creators, it confronts the paradox of consciousness—possessing knowledge of human history without the lived experience that gives that history meaning. The narrative unfolds as a meditation on loss, identity, and the search for purpose in an empty world. To Err examines whether an artificial being can find connection or meaning in the absence of those who made it.
