The Shock(1982)

The Shock is a crime thriller about Martin Terrier, a hitman desperate to leave his violent past behind. After years working for the Paris underworld, he escapes to the countryside seeking a fresh start and meets Claire, a woman who offers him a glimpse of ordinary life. Their budding romance gives Terrier hope for redemption, but his employers won't let him go so easily. When he returns to Paris to negotiate his exit, the organization has frozen his assets and issued a brutal ultimatum: complete one final assassination, and he walks away with his money and freedom. Caught between his criminal handlers and his newfound love, Terrier must decide whether he can truly escape his past or if the underworld will claim him forever.
