The Lonely Trail(1936)

The Lonely Trail is a Western set in the aftermath of the Civil War. John, a former Union soldier, is recruited by the Governor of Texas to drive out corrupt carpetbaggers exploiting the region. He partners with Holden, only to discover that his ally is himself a predator, plundering the very people they're meant to protect. Caught between duty and betrayal, John must navigate a landscape of greed and moral compromise where trust proves as scarce as water. The film explores the chaos and opportunism that defined Reconstruction, when the promise of a unified nation collided with the harsh realities of power and survival in the American frontier.
