The Greatest Expectation(2003)

The Greatest Expectation is a South Korean comedy about two unemployed dreamers whose lives collide. Chang-sik survives by freeloading off his brother and sampling free food at department stores. Mi-young chases stardom as an aspiring actress, despite failing every audition. When the two accidentally crash into each other on the street, Chang-sik's carefully hoarded coins scatter everywhere. Desperate to recover every last cent, he demands Mi-young pay him the 10 cents he's short. She refuses. What begins as a petty dispute over loose change spirals into an unlikely connection between two people stuck in the margins, each clinging to their own impossible dreams. The film balances humor with genuine pathos as these misfits navigate poverty, ambition, and the small humiliations of everyday survival.
