Bena(2009)

Bena is a drama about a father's desperate attempt to create stability for his troubled household. Amos lives alone with his schizophrenic teenage son, refusing to institutionalize him after witnessing how psychiatric wards treat their patients. When he brings home Bena, a young undocumented Thai woman, he hopes her presence will restore some semblance of normalcy to their fractured family. Instead, the arrangement unravels in unexpected ways. The film explores themes of isolation, mental illness, and the limits of good intentions, following three people whose lives collide in a small, claustrophobic space where healing proves far more complicated than Amos imagined.
