Mountain of Gold(2016)

Mountain of Gold follows Almayer, a Dutch trader clinging to survival in turn-of-the-century Malaysia. Obsessed with discovering a legendary gold mountain, he faces mounting obstacles: his manipulative wife, colonial officials, the local chief's political intrigue, and Arab merchants all work against him. His struggle intensifies when his daughter falls for a Malay prince fighting for independence. Set against the backdrop of colonial upheaval, the film charts Almayer's descent as personal ambition collides with the forces reshaping the region around him. His quest for wealth becomes entangled with family loyalty, political loyalty, and the impossible dream of a fortune that may never exist.
