Léo e Bia(2010)
Léo e Bia is a Brazilian drama set in Brasilia during 1973, at the height of the military dictatorship. Seven young friends, led by aspiring director Léo, form a theater group and rehearse a provocative play that draws parallels between Jesus Christ and the legendary cangaceiro Lampião. As political repression tightens across the federal capital, the ensemble confronts a society where sexual freedom remains forbidden and traditional values suffocate individuality. Bia finds herself increasingly trapped by her mother's controlling obsession, becoming a focal point for the group's growing rebellion against the rigid social and political constraints surrounding them. The film explores how art and youthful idealism clash against an oppressive regime and conservative culture.
