Mixtape(2021)

Mixtape is a coming-of-age film set on the eve of Y2K, following orphaned 12-year-old Beverly as she discovers a broken cassette tape made by her late teenage parents. Raised by her grandmother, who finds it painful to discuss her late daughter, Beverly becomes determined to restore the mixtape and uncover the story of the parents she never knew. The tape becomes a bridge between past and present, offering Beverly a tangible connection to her family history and a chance to understand who her parents were before tragedy struck. As she works to piece together both the mixtape and her family's secrets, Beverly embarks on a journey of self-discovery that challenges her grandmother to confront her own grief and finally share the memories she's kept locked away.
