Verdi: Rigoletto (Teatro Regio di Parma)(2008)
« Questa o quella per me pari sono »
Rigoletto: Verdi's Italian opera in three acts, recorded live at Teatro Regio di Parma in 2008. Set in 16th-century Mantua, the story follows the Duke, a nobleman who seduces women without remorse, and Rigoletto, his court jester who mocks the elderly Monterone—an act that earns him a devastating curse. When a mysterious man begins pursuing the young woman Rigoletto protects, the jester hires the hitman Sparafucile. The twist: the woman is Rigoletto's own daughter, Gilda, whom courtiers believe he keeps for romantic reasons. Rigoletto must navigate his conflicting roles as entertainer and tormented father as tragedy unfolds. Based on Victor Hugo's 1832 play "Le roi s'amuse," this masterpiece premiered in Venice in 1851 and remains one of Verdi's most performed works, celebrated for its emotional depth and unforgettable melodies.
