The Tichborne Claimant is a 19th-century drama based on true events. When Lord Tichborne, England's ninth richest nobleman, vanishes after a shipwreck in South America, his valet Bogle travels to Australia to investigate whispers of survival. There he encounters a rough, drunken man claiming to be the missing heir. Bogle doubts the story but sees opportunity—he agrees to help the claimant impersonate the lord in exchange for a share of the inheritance. As the impostor returns to England and begins fooling Tichborne's inner circle, both men start to wonder if the deception might actually be true.
