Elephant Walk is a 1954 drama starring Peter Finch as John Wiley, a colonial tea planter who marries English woman Ruth (Elizabeth Taylor) during a visit home after World War II. When he brings her to his plantation in Ceylon, Ruth discovers a life of tropical luxury shadowed by profound isolation—she's the only white woman in the district. Tensions mount as her husband's arrogance grows, she develops an attraction to the plantation manager Dick Carver (Dana Andrews), and a herd of elephants, hostile to the estate's presence, poses an escalating threat. The film balances intimate domestic conflict with the looming danger of nature itself, as Ruth must navigate colonial life's constraints while the elephants close in on the plantation.
