Dr. Li and the Mummy is a silent film that blends mystery and the supernatural. When Miss Tang encounters a vampire in a hotel garden at night, Mr. Li sets out to determine whether the creature is real or merely a product of imagination. His investigation leads him to uncover a troubling connection: the hotel sits atop the grounds of a former gold mine, which may hold the key to the haunting. The film is notable as a pioneering work in cinema, believed to be the first to feature the jiangshi, the legendary hopping vampire of Chinese folklore.
