Rapture(1980)
Rapture follows José Sirgado, a struggling filmmaker battling heroin addiction that warps his grip on reality. Depressed and volatile, José finds unexpected solace when he receives mysterious films from Pedro, a fellow cinephile who shares his obsession with cinema. As the two connect through their passion for film, José's mood lifts—but the line between artistic inspiration and destructive escape blurs. The film explores how addiction and art intersect in the life of someone clinging to cinema as both salvation and escape. Shot on a shoestring budget, Rapture captures the gritty, unfiltered world of independent filmmaking and the fragile bonds formed between damaged people who find meaning in the medium they love.
