Long Da Lishkara(1986)

Long Da Lishkara is a Punjabi drama that pits love against family honour. Raja returns home from school to a hero's welcome, only to shatter his family's pride by falling for Preeto, a servant in his household. When Preeto's aunt Gulabo reveals a dark secret from the past, Preeto becomes consumed with revenge against Raja's family. Now Raja must choose between his feelings for Preeto and his duty to his family name, while Preeto wrestles with her own conflict: can she forgive Raja for his family's sins, or will vengeance win out? The film explores whether love can truly conquer the deep-rooted divisions of caste, class, and family legacy in rural Punjab.
