
Abdullah from Minye(1990)
Abdullah from Minye is an Egyptian drama set during the British colonial period. The film follows Abdullah, a devout man devoted to Islamic tradition, as his country undergoes cultural upheaval under foreign rule. When a neighbor denounces him for organizing religious gatherings in his home, Abdullah is arrested during a police raid. Imprisoned and accused of opposing the government, he refuses to abandon his faith-based teachings even behind bars. Meanwhile, his wife Sevde, pressured by her family, divorces him in his absence. A determined police chief, threatened by Abdullah's continued influence, pursues his execution.
