Losing the Thread is an experimental documentary that weaves together Super 8 footage of Paris fashion shows from 1979 and 1980 into a meditation on style and couture culture. Rather than a straightforward chronicle, the film deliberately unravels its own narrative, exploring how fashion and individual expression intersect. Drawing on Deleuze's notion of creating a foreign language within one's own, the filmmaker stitches together archival moments featuring Coco Chanel, Courrèges, Cole Porter, and Karl Lagerfeld to examine the threads connecting high fashion with personal whimsy and cultural influence. The result is a layered, impressionistic portrait of how style operates as both collective phenomenon and intimate choice.
