Daqui p'ra alegria
Daqui p'ra alegria(2004)
Daqui p'ra alegria is a Portuguese film that follows three charismatic young women from Lisbon's suburbs—Bruna, Marta, and Sara—who exploit their charm and good looks to get what they want from unsuspecting people. Their carefree scheming intersects with Francisco, a withdrawn neighbour who abandoned his family years ago and now lives in self-imposed isolation, ashamed to meet anyone's gaze. The neighbourhood has come to believe Francisco possesses an uncanny ability to predict relationship longevity simply by observing couples. When news arrives of his estranged wife's death, Francisco's carefully constructed routine unravels, forcing an unexpected collision between the girls' opportunistic world and his grief-stricken reckoning. The film explores how chance encounters can disrupt lives built on avoidance and deception.
