Journey to Mecca is a historical film following Ibn Battuta, a 20-year-old Islamic law student who departed Tangier, Morocco in 1325 on a grueling pilgrimage across 3,000 miles of desert to reach the holy city. The eighteen-month expedition tests his faith and resolve as he confronts bandits, sandstorms, and dehydration. Rescued by Bedouins and battered by the harsh landscape, Ibn Battuta's journey becomes as much an inward spiritual quest as a physical ordeal. The film chronicles the real travels of one of history's most celebrated explorers, whose accounts of this transformative pilgrimage would later inspire centuries of geographical and cultural documentation.
