River Beat(1954)
Diamonds on her meant trouble!
River Beat is a British crime thriller about diamond smugglers who exploit a naive radio operator aboard a Thames freighter, hiding stolen gems in cigarette packages to slip past customs. The scheme unravels when the woman befriends an inspector from the Thames River Patrol, setting up a tense cat-and-mouse game between the criminals and law enforcement. The film captures post-war London's underworld, where greed collides with duty along the river's murky docks. Phyllis Kirk stars as the unwitting accomplice caught between two worlds, forced to choose between the smugglers who've manipulated her and the honest cop who's won her trust. Tension builds as both sides close in, threatening to expose her dangerous double life.
