Honeymoon(1985)
This year in New York, 76,336 women will get married... 282 will be murdered.
Honeymoon is a romantic comedy about a French woman facing deportation from New York who agrees to a marriage of convenience with a stranger arranged through an agency. Her new husband, a drug offender recently released from prison, was never supposed to be part of her life—their arrangement is purely transactional. But as the two navigate their fake marriage, he begins taking his vows seriously, developing genuine feelings that complicate their straightforward plan. What starts as a practical solution to an immigration crisis becomes increasingly messy as real emotions threaten to derail their carefully constructed deception. The film explores how two people brought together by circumstance and desperation discover unexpected connection amid lies and legal stakes.
