Hashish is a documentary that explores life in Ketama, a remote mountain village in Northern Morocco where cannabis cultivation has defined the community for centuries. Here, hashish functions simultaneously as daily labor, currency, commerce, and the foundation of an entire social structure. The film examines how this crop shapes every aspect of village existence—from economic survival to cultural philosophy—while also documenting the stagnation and dreams it creates. Through intimate observation, the film presents a complex portrait of a place where a single commodity has become inseparable from identity, tradition, and the possibility of change.
