Second Chance

Second Chance is an American game show that aired on ABC from March to July 1977. Hosted by Jim Peck with announcers Jay Stewart and Jack Clark, the show became a direct predecessor to the later CBS hit Press Your Luck. The format featured a distinctive visual element—devils designed by animator Steve Holland—that would evolve into the iconic "Whammy" character on its successor. Produced by The Carruthers Company, Second Chance ran for a brief but influential season that left a lasting mark on game show history. Holland, who created the show's memorable animated mascots, went on to become a successful film director, but his work on Second Chance remains a notable early credit in his career.
