Coming of Age(1988)

Coming of Age is a sitcom that aired on CBS in 1988 and 1989. Paul Dooley and Phyllis Newman star as Dick and Ginny Hale, a couple forced into retirement at a Arizona community called The Dunes. Dick, a former airline pilot mandatory retired at 60, resents nearly everything about his new life—the scorching heat, paper-thin apartment walls, and his neighbors' contentment with retirement. While he struggles to adjust, Ginny navigates their unexpected circumstances alongside him. The show premiered as a midseason replacement in March 1988 but was cancelled after three episodes, then revived for the fall season before failing again. CBS aired additional episodes during summer 1989 as filler programming. Coming of Age features Alan Young and Glynis Johns as neighboring residents.
