A groundbreaking series, it was the first to debut as a midseason replacement on network television. The show began with a half-season run on NBC before moving to CBS for two full seasons, then returned to NBC for its final two years. Following its original broadcast, the series found new life in daytime reruns on ABC and later entered syndication under the title Love That Bob. The show's success led to a follow-up series, The New Bob Cummings Show, which aired on CBS during the 1961-62 season, though it failed to match the original's popularity.
