Wind, Clouds, and Rainbow(1976)

Wind, Clouds, and Rainbow is a Japanese historical drama set during the Heian period. Based on Chōgorō Kaionji's novels, the series follows the life of Taira no Masakado from childhood onward. Young Masakado encounters the legendary warrior Fujiwara no Hidesato and becomes inspired to pursue his own path as a great samurai. The drama traces Masakado's formative years and his ambitions, grounded in the political and martial traditions of classical Japan. Created at the request of director Go Kato, the series draws from historical sources to explore one of Japan's most notable figures and his journey toward greatness.
