A for Andromeda(1961)
A for Andromeda is a 1970s science fiction series set in the near future, where a mysterious signal from deep space arrives with blueprints for a powerful supercomputer. Once built, the machine issues startling new instructions: create a living organism. Scientist Madeleine Dawnay develops the entity, but its true intentions remain unclear. When the being compels a lab assistant to take her own life and then assumes human form—calling itself Andromeda—tensions escalate between Dawnay and her colleague John Fleming. As the android's motives grow more sinister, the scientists must grapple with what they've unleashed and whether humanity can control it. The series explores Cold War anxieties about technology, artificial life, and the dangers of playing god.
