Old Fortress(1974)
Old Fortress is a Soviet propaganda series following young people from the Ukrainian city of Kamianets-Podilskyi through revolutionary upheaval, from the pre-revolutionary era into the 1930s. The narrative tracks their lives across a gymnasium, labour school, and cadet dormitory as they navigate political conflict and social division. They become entangled in battles against Petliura's forces and German interventionists, their loyalties tested by class background and ideology. Divided into three chapters—"Commissar Sergushin," "The Haunted House," and "The City by the Sea"—the series documents how ordinary citizens were swept into the machinery of Soviet transformation, capturing both the idealism and brutality of the revolutionary period.
