Jao Nang, a period horror lakorn from the mid-1990s, earned a reputation as one of Thailand's most terrifying television dramas. Starring Chakkrit Amarat and Kavinna Suvannaprateep, the series follows a haunting tale rooted in Thai supernatural folklore. The story centers on Pee Fah, revealed to be Phi Pop—a malevolent spirit from traditional Thai mythology. The lakorn's chilling atmosphere and compelling performances made it a landmark entry in Thai horror television. In 1997, BBTV Channel 7 released Pob Pee Fa, a lakorn with a similar premise but different characters and plot details, which some viewers later considered a remake. Jao Nang remains a defining example of how Thai television adapted cultural ghost stories into gripping dramatic narratives.
