Rosy Business(2009)

Rosy Business is a Hong Kong series set in mid-19th century Qing Dynasty Eastern China, following the mercantile Chiang family as they navigate ambition and jealousy over inheritance of their business empire. When patriarch Chiang Kiu takes a fourth wife, Hong Po-kei, she inherits control of Hing Fung Nin, the family rice shop, and becomes a shrewd operator in her own right. Po-kei mentors Chai Kau, an ambitious coolie, guiding him up the social ladder while managing the competing interests and schemes within the household. The series explores themes of power, loyalty, and survival in a competitive merchant world, blending family drama with period intrigue as characters scheme and strategize to secure their positions and fortunes.
