Defenders of the Earth(1986)

Defenders of the Earth is an animated series from 1986 that unites three King Features Syndicate heroes—Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician—in a futuristic battle against the tyrannical Ming the Merciless in 2015. The show expands the classic comic strip universe by introducing the heroes' children, including Rick Gordon and Jedda Walker, alongside supporting allies like Lothar and his son L.J. Together, this ensemble faces intergalactic and mystical threats across 65 episodes. The series blends sci-fi action with adventure, drawing on decades of pulp comic tradition. A companion comic book series followed, while the show later found new audiences through reruns on the Sci Fi Channel's Sci Fi Cartoon Quest programming block.
