Dressed in Blue(2023)

Dressed in Blue is a documentary series that follows journalist Valeria Vegas as she revisits the landmark 1983 film Vestida de azul, which documented the lives of six trans women navigating Madrid during the 1980s. Two years after publishing her acclaimed memoir about Cristina La Veneno, Vegas finds herself creatively adrift and drawn back to the stories of Loren, Tamara, Renée, Eva, Josette, and Nacha. The series investigates what became of these pioneering figures and examines the brutal social conditions they faced during Spain's transition to democracy. Vegas combines archival footage with contemporary interviews to trace how visibility, survival, and identity intersected for Madrid's trans community across four decades.
