The Wind, The Storm is a series about Noe Ito, a women's liberation activist who lived during Japan's Taisho era a century ago. Driven by fierce passion and inspired by Raito Hiratsuka's declaration that "in the beginning, women were the sun," Noe challenged marriage and social convention with radical defiance. Her life intertwined with the Dadaist artist Jun Tsuji and anarchist Sakae Osugi, whom she loved deeply. Noe pursued freedom and a career as a writer while confronting poverty and gender inequality—struggles that resonate powerfully today. Her journey ended in tragedy at twenty-eight, cut short by senseless violence, yet her bold resistance to social contradiction continues to inspire and unsettle contemporary audiences grappling with stagnation and injustice.
