Carmen Curlers is a Danish series set in 1963, following the rise of a beauty supply business launched from a basement in a small town. Within years, the company explodes to employ 3,500 people, predominantly women discovering independence through their own wages for the first time. The show captures both the exhilaration and friction of economic freedom, as these workers navigate newfound financial autonomy, workplace dynamics, and shifting social expectations. Against the backdrop of post-war Denmark, Carmen Curlers explores how a single entrepreneurial venture transforms the lives of ordinary women and reshapes their community, blending personal ambition with the broader cultural shifts of the era.
