Kimagure Honkakuha(1977)

Kimagure Honkakuha is a Japanese series following Shinobu, an advertising executive at Princess Underwear who dreams of becoming a fairy tale writer. Engaged to his colleague Taeko, Shinobu has set a condition: he won't marry until he saves 3 million yen, so he lives modestly in a second-hand bookstore. When he helps an elderly woman who collapses on the street, his life takes an unexpected turn. The woman, Ijuuin Ayano, comes from a noble Kyoto family and has fled her home after a falling-out with her daughter-in-law. As their unlikely friendship develops, Shinobu's carefully ordered life becomes complicated by Ayano's presence and the secrets she carries.
