Rollin' On The River(1971)

Rollin' On The River is a Canadian music variety series from 1971–72 that made history as the first pop-rock group to host their own prime-time television show. Hosted by Kenny Rogers and The First Edition, the series ran for 53 episodes and featured an impressive roster of guest performers including Tina Turner, Merle Haggard, Bo Diddley, Bill Withers, Billy Preston, Jim Croce, Kris Kristofferson, Helen Reddy, and many others spanning country, soul, rock, and folk genres. The show celebrated both American and Canadian talent, with performances from homegrown acts like April Wine, Bruce Cockburn, The Stampeders, and Chilliwack. The Canadian broadcast ran at a full hour, while the U.S. version was edited to 30 minutes with many Canadian artists removed for American audiences.
