Yakarta(2025)

Yakarta is a Spanish series following José Ramón Garrido, a washed-up former Olympic badminton player now teaching PE at a Madrid high school. Divorced and directionless, Joserra spots a chance at redemption when he discovers Mar, a talented teenage badminton player, at a school tournament. Convinced she's his ticket to Jakarta—a city where aging athletes like him are treated as legends—he persuades her to train with him. What follows is a mismatched road trip across Spain through dingy hostels, neglected sports facilities, and forgotten towns, as the two learn to tolerate each other while chasing a dream that may never materialize. The series balances comedy with the melancholy of second chances, exploring whether redemption is possible when you're running out of time.
