Deep Dive Korea: Song Ji-hyo's Haenyeo Adventure is a documentary series following South Korean television star Song Ji-hyo as she trains to join Jeju Island's legendary female free divers. The Haenyeo, now mostly in their 80s, plunge up to 20 metres without air apparatus to harvest shellfish—a practice they've mastered since childhood. Ji-hyo compresses over 30 years of traditional preparation into a single month, testing her physical and mental limits alongside these remarkable women. As she learns their craft, the series reveals how climate change and an ageing population threaten this centuries-old heritage. Through intimate access to their daily lives and struggles, the show explores what it will take to preserve the Haenyeo's extraordinary way of life before it disappears entirely.
