The Growing Summer(1968)
The Growing Summer is a British television series based on Noel Streatfeild's children's novel, dramatised by Eric Thompson. Four children are sent to stay with their eccentric Great Aunt Dymphna while their parents travel abroad. There they meet the mysterious Stephan, and under Dymphna's whimsical, almost magical influence, each child begins to grow and change in unexpected ways. Wendy Hiller brings warmth and charm to the role of the unconventional aunt, while Hoagy Davies, Zuleika Robson, Mark Ward, and Laura Hartong play the four young protagonists. Filmed in colour on location at Bantry Bay in Southern Ireland, the seven-episode series captures Streatfeild's original setting with vivid charm, blending coming-of-age growth with gentle family drama.
