Un pique-nique chez Osiris is a French period drama set in 1898 Paris. Nine-year-old Héloïse, born into an affluent anti-Semitic family, defies her world by falling in love with Maxime, a young Jewish journalist. When a violent argument with her father triggers his fatal stroke, her mother and cousin spirit her away to the Orient to separate the pair. The journey takes them through Cairo, past the Pyramids, and deep into the Nile Valley by caravan across the desert. Against the backdrop of colonial Egypt and family scandal, Héloïse must navigate forbidden love, grief, and her own awakening conscience in a world determined to keep her confined.
