Cowboys(1980)

Cowboys is a British sitcom that aired on ITV in the early 1980s, centred on Joe Jones, a hapless builder whose small firm lurches from one disaster to the next. Created by Peter Learmouth, who later developed the medical comedy Surgical Spirit, the show stars Roy Kinnear as the perpetually unlucky Jones, alongside David Kelly, Colin Welland, James Wardroper, Debbie Linden and Janine Duvitski. The comedy mines the British slang term "cowboy"—slang for an incompetent tradesman—for its humour, following the chaotic misadventures of a building crew that can't seem to get anything right. Learmouth's script captures the frustrations of shoddy workmanship with sharp comic timing and an ensemble cast that brings warmth to the everyday mishaps.
