GR -GIANT ROBO- is a 40th-anniversary anime reimagining of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's manga classic, directed through a cerebral lens by Chiaki J. Konaka, creator of Serial Experiments Lain. In the 21st century, a terrorist organization unleashes GRs—colossal titans from an ancient civilization—threatening global security. The United Nations scrambles to locate the remaining GRs before they fall into hostile hands. Teenage scuba diver Daisaku Kusama stumbles upon GR-1 and forms a psychic bond with the machine, thrusting him into a desperate battle against the awakening titans. As Daisaku fights to protect Earth, he uncovers the shadowy origins of these world-ending weapons and the conspiracy behind their resurrection.
