Nagi-Asu: A Lull in the Sea is an anime series set in a world where humans once lived entirely underwater. Those who chose the surface lost their ability to breathe in water, creating a deep divide between sea and land dwellers. When four teenage friends—Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki, and Kaname—are forced to leave their underwater home and attend school on the surface, they confront centuries of prejudice and mistrust. There they meet Tsumugu, a surface-dwelling student drawn to the ocean. As the group navigates discrimination and personal turmoil, an ominous threat emerges that endangers everyone. The series explores themes of belonging, cultural conflict, and the cost of separation through the eyes of young people caught between two worlds.
