As Merrily investigates, she becomes convinced that Satanists orchestrated the killing, drawing her into a shadowy underworld of occult practices and genuine danger. The series blends procedural mystery with gothic horror, exploring themes of faith, doubt, and the battle between good and evil. Merrily must navigate both the institutional skepticism of the church and the very real threats posed by those who inhabit the darkness she's sworn to combat.
