Dagashi Kashi is a comedy series about Kokonotsu, a teenager who dreams of becoming a manga author while his father runs a rural sweets shop. When Hotaru, an eccentric girl from a major confectionery company, arrives to recruit his father, she strikes a deal: she'll only let him join her family business if Kokonotsu agrees to take over the shop instead. What follows is a quirky summer filled with candy trivia, odd snacks, and Hotaru's relentless attempts to convince Kokonotsu that the world of dagashi—cheap Japanese sweets—is far more interesting than manga. The series blends slice-of-life humor with genuine affection for confectionery culture, exploring how passion and tradition can unexpectedly win over ambition.
