Saiyuki Gaiden(2011)

Saiyuki Gaiden is a prequel series set 500 years before the original Saiyuki, following a heretic child with golden eyes brought to Heaven and placed under the care of Konzen, a reluctant minor deity. Konzen names the boy Goku, and he gradually finds friendship among Heaven's ranks: the marshal Tenpou, general Kenren of the Western Army, and the War Prince Nataku, a boy seemingly his own age. Despite Goku's contentment in his new home, Heaven proves hostile to heretics, and his presence threatens the peace of the divine realm. The series explores Goku's origins and the bonds formed in a world that fundamentally rejects him, setting the stage for the events of the main narrative.
