Speed Racer: The Next Generation is an American animated series set decades after the original 1967 Speed Racer, following a new generation of drivers in the high-octane world of competitive racing. The show premiered on Nicktoons Network in May 2008, timed with the live-action film adaptation, though both tell independent stories featuring different protagonists and their own versions of the iconic Mach 6. The pilot and first season aired as three-part specials on Nickelodeon through 2009, with NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon lending his voice to the character Turbo McCalister. A second season launched in 2011 with expanded animation production.
