Save Our History(1999)

Save Our History is a History Channel documentary series dedicated to preserving America's cultural heritage. Hosted by Edward Herrmann, the program raises awareness and support for local and national historical sites while partnering with Preserve America, a White House initiative launched in 2003. Each episode spotlights communities working to protect their unique historical landmarks and stories. The series introduced the Teacher and Student of the Year Awards in 2006, recognizing educators and young people who champion preservation efforts in their own towns. Featured sites have included the first Union Army camp for African Americans in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania, the Mars Train Station in Mars, Pennsylvania, and the Strand Theater in Zelienople, Pennsylvania. Save Our History combines education with grassroots activism, showing how ordinary people can safeguard the places and events that shaped the nation.
