Jikulumessu(2015)

Jikulumessu is an Angolan series following Joel Kapala, a seventeen-year-old from Lubango who enters one of Angola's most prestigious schools in Luanda in 1998, determined to pursue an ambitious path. His admission to Santa Agnes International School fractures his family: his mother Laura supports his ambitions while his father Ivo, who runs a mechanic shop, fiercely opposes the move. Driven by a childhood disappointment and a hunger for revenge, Joel navigates the tension between family loyalty and personal aspiration. The series weaves together themes of love and hate, hope and despair, capturing the emotional complexity of coming-of-age against the backdrop of Angolan landscapes and culture. Jikulumessu explores how ambition tests family bonds and how revenge shapes the choices we make.
